Health & Safety

Sample safety statement for angling clubs and a number of Sport Ireland guideline documents below.

It is important that all club events are properly planned and risk assessed to ensure members are not put at risk. Routine maintenance and regular inspections of venues are an important function of committees.

Clubs are advised to carryout specific risk assessments for their locations and competition venues. Event risk assessment templates may be used for club events in addition to normal club risk assessments.

When clubs take on development work projects, it is important to ensure all Health & Safety  requirements are met.   Risk assessments are required to ensure all hazards are identified and proper control measures are put in place. Many of the general risks are identified below however, it is necessary to conduct your own risk assessments following a walk through of your fishing areas.  Eliminate risks where practicable and provide control measures for any other risks that may be present. The aim is to reduce the risks to as low as is reasonably practicable.  We have sample risk assessment templates for running large events  and for outings with youths etc.

We are here to advise our members on issues of health & safety,  please drop us a line, we will do our best to assist you.

Please note that separate Risk Assessments are completed for Safeguarding  children from harm, samples of these are also available under the Child Safeguarding section.
